Litefeet History Pt. 2

Creation Period – 1999-2005

The creation of Litefeet occurred between 1999 and 2005 alongside the Harlem Shake Movement.

A popular Harlem-based basketball MC known as AG aka The Voice of Harlem created the term Litefeet and he started the initial Litefeet Movement. He created the first official Litefeet group known as “Team Litefeet” which was a team compiled of the best Litefeet dancers in New York. Members of Team Litefeet included Teyana Taylor, Matt, Kanye East, Charlie Rockz, Ralph aka Mr. 5000, Bri Beauty, Gusto, KP, Chrybaby Cozie, Milton aka ASAP Marty, Peaches and Kev Lite.

The five original dances in Litefeet included:

  • The Harlem Shake
  • The Tone Whop
  • The Chicken Noodle Soup
  • The Aunt Jackie
  • The Bad one

The original dances were made popular by rap songs that were created to promote these dances. Examples include:

  • “Chicken Noodle Soup” - produced by DJ Webstar and performed by Young B and AG aka The Voice of Harlem.
  • The “Aunt Jackie” by Jason Fox.

By the year 2006, Litefeet had established itself as its own dance culture.
